Conversation Volunteers Australia has once again added a great event to NSVW with their Help Give Plants a Drink Day on the 16th August!
The Lower Cotter Catchment has recently been planted with loads of seedlings to rehabilitate the land, control erosion, provide habitat for birds and animals and improve air quality. A huge 2000 new trees and shrubs are growing in the catchment and they all need some TLC!
On the day you will be watering, tending and/or removing plant guards, light weeding, but most importantly enjoying the fantastic scenery this area has to offer.
This event is a great day if you're new to volunteering as you can enjoy some stunning wildlife and help rejuvenate the plants but also take a break from the stresses of uni. There will be some lovely people helping out in this event and it's a great opportunity to make friends and learn all about nature.
Pick up for this project is outside the YHA on Akuna Street at 8am and generally you will return at around 4pm.
Remember to bring lunch, a water bottle and wear sensible outdoor clothing, but most importantly bring your enthusiasm!
National Student Volunteer Week is once again excited to have CVA on board as one of the participants in the events for this year. Creating change through helping the environment is a great way to make a positive difference and develop some life changing skills. There are lots of volunteers involved who are students so don't hesitate about joining as you are sure to make a difference for the environment and have a great time as well!
