Howard Springs school gardening day - Conservation Volunteers Australia event

Howard Springs school gardening day - Conservation Volunteers Australia event

Volunteers will learn craftsmanship skills and assist educating students on how to grow their own produce.

During this project, volunteers will be engaging with students at a rural Primary School to construct drought proof planting boxes known as 'Wicking Beds' out of recycled fridges. Students will learn how to create an edible or flower garden bed by filling the boxes with soil and planting seeds of their choice. They will monitor and care for the wicking beds and watch the seeds grow. This is a chance to express their creativity by painting crafty designs on the sides of the beds and being part of every step of the process. With your help, we can create a bright, sustainable future for students and teach them how to grow a variety of their own plants.
