Ross River Riparian Enhancement

Conservation Volunteers Australia are holding a community organisation volunteering event, assisting in the Ross River Riparian Enhancement.

Try volunteering & help the environment

Ross River is a 49 kilometre long river, flowing through the city of Townsville. The river is a vital ecosystem and habitat, and together we will be concentrating on the area around Mundingburra from Aplins Weir to Sherriff Park. Conservation Volunteers Australia will enourage student participation for the removal of invasive weeds and stabilisation of the river's banks from erosion which will lead to long term benefits for the community and native ecosystems. Students will also plant native species which will ensure a seed bank for future natural regeneration, and create vital habitat for native animals, birds and insects. Student volunteers will also remove rubbish to help prevent it from entering the river system.

Come along and lend a hand, get to meet some great people and give back to the local community.

Please register for induction before you commence volunteering. Visit the Conservation Volunteers Australia website to find out more.
