UWA INCLUSION//Intercultural & Interfaith

This year for National Student Volunteer Week Guild Volunteering are partnering with community organisations and representatives from the Guild and UWA to present a week-long series of discussions around the theme of inclusion with a focus on a different topic each night of the week.

Tonight they are continuing the discussion with Inclusion Series // Intercultural and Interfaith.

The event will be a little different from your standard 'panel' discussion format, instead taking the form of smaller break-out groups focussing on topics relevant to the broader evening theme, led by members of the student body, university staff, and representatives from community organisations. Participants will have the option to move through the different discussions over the course of the evening.

For tonight's event they are delighted to welcome a selection of passionate and inspiring representatives from their university and local community organisations to discuss a range of topics pertaining to inclusion within the Intercultural and Interfaith context.

Discussion leaders and their selected topics are:

  • Samina Yasmeen
  • UWA School of Political Science and International Relations
  • Topic: Interfaith Dialogue (TBC)
  • Sara Shengeb
  • Multicultural Youth Advocacy Network (MYAN)
  • Topic: Refugee and Migrants

And more to be confirmed soon!

They hope that through the events, Guild Volunteering will be able to create safe spaces for people to share their lived experience or listen to different perspectives. They also hope to highlight the importance of inclusive practices in volunteering, and provide opportunities for students to connect to the community.

At the conclusion of the discussions, light refreshments will be provided.
